Improving learning in ENPI countries through clean technologies and research-related activities

1. Purpose of the project:

developing closer cooperation between the EU and the ENPI countries to increase research and development results in areas related to Green Energy, the environment and sustainable development.

2. Objectives of the project:

-development of the “knowledge triangle” science-production-university through the orientation towards applied research in the applications of graduate students and young scientists;
-implementation of the Bologna educational system and the Lisbon strategy in partner universities with the support of the Ministries of Education;
-improvement of the qualifications system in priority areas;
-development of lifelong education and promotion of student employment.

3. Brief description of the project:

The project is being implemented by a consortium of universities in Western Europe: Germany, Spain, Italy, Ireland, Portugal, Finland, Poland and Bulgaria, together with universities of the Republic of Belarus, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Ukraine and Georgia. The overall management of the project is entrusted to the University of Oldenburg (Germany).
As part of the project, representatives of partner universities have the opportunity to study and internships in 8 universities from the European Union, while the travel and accommodation costs of exchange participants will be fully covered by the project.
The total number of academic exchanges envisaged by the project is 248, of which 25 are for Belarus. At the same time, the following types of mobility are included: internships for students for a period of up to a year, short-term and long-term (degree) internships for undergraduates, internships for graduate students, young scientists and teachers for a period of 1 to 11 months. Organization of academic exchanges is carried out in the form of competitions, which take place 2-3 times during the life cycle of the project.
The specified project of international technical assistance is aimed at the development of academic mobility, which in turn is a significant factor in the modernization of various elements of the higher education system of the Republic of Belarus and its integration into the European educational space.
The project creates conditions for organizing teaching in English, including by inviting teachers from foreign universities to read courses; development of the personnel potential of universities, carried out through internships for teachers in leading organizations and research centers abroad, as well as the development of specialized units in the management structure of universities for organizational and educational and methodological work with foreign students.

4. Brief plan of project activities:

1) technical support for the preparation of a base for exchanges - carried out by each project partner: announcement of competitions, organization of selection of candidates, preparation of necessary documents, support of visa issues, transfer of loans, etc.);
2) technical assistance in the implementation of exchanges;
3) monitoring and disseminating the results of exchanges carried out by Belarusian partner universities: issuing certificates and other necessary documents to exchange participants, academic recognition of the results of exchanges, developing new curricula / programs; exchange of experience of internships.
4) project management in the Republic of Belarus: monitoring of each stage of the project (selection of participants, implementation of mobility, recognition of the results of mobility, preparation of interim reports, etc.), financial management of the project, communication between project partners, preparation of meetings with partners;
5) providing information to the main partner when developing, launching and updating the project site;
6) participation in working meetings.

5. Expected results:

1) increasing the level of knowledge and developing professional skills of future engineers, ecologists, environmental protection specialists, energy conservation specialists, natural resource managers;
2) making a contribution to the sustainable development of the ENPI countries, the development of environmentally friendly and energy-saving technologies in these countries;
3) increasing the competitiveness and attractiveness of higher education institutions within the country and the region;
4) expanding opportunities for training and research abroad for scientists and university staff, creating a basis for establishing fruitful international contacts with the prospect of further cooperation;
5) supporting the implementation of the Bologna Process within the partner universities of the participating countries.
