Interuniversity start-up centers for the development and promotion of student innovation

1. Purpose of the project

development of innovative and entrepreneurial activities in partner countries based on increasing creativity, competitiveness and employment opportunities for university graduates (universities) and expanding cooperation between universities (universities), innovation and investment companies for the commercialization of knowledge.

2. Project objectives

- creation of inter-university regional start-up centers and an interactive network for cooperation between consortium members based on international academic and professional experience as a platform for the implementation of innovative ideas and technologies;
- modernization of curricula in the field of technical and computer specialties and the development of an educational and methodological base to increase creativity and develop competence in the development and promotion of innovations;
- creation in partner countries of a training system for advanced training and continuing education of trainers, as well as retraining in the field of innovation development in partner countries.
The project corresponds to the priority areas of socio-economic development of the Republic of Belarus, reflected in the Address of the President of the Republic of Belarus A.G. Lukashenko to the Belarusian people and the National Assembly (April 2013) in terms of developing the innovative potential of youth in the context of systemic modernization of the economy and society of the Republic of Belarus.

3. Brief description of the project

The project will contribute to the implementation of the goals of the State Program for the Development of Higher Education for 2011-2015, in particular, solving the problem of improving the quality of fundamental and special training of specialists with higher education in order to form the readiness to generate new ideas, create and introduce innovative developments in production and the social sphere.

The project is being implemented by a consortium of partners from the EU and CIS countries, consisting of 16 universities, 3 ministries, 1 association and 2 business companies. On the part of Belarus, the Ministry of Education of the Republic of Belarus, the Belarusian State University and the Belarusian National Technical University are participating in the project.

The project will improve the quality of education in the field of entrepreneurship development and student creativity based on the practical implementation of innovative ideas and projects on the basis of start-up centers created at universities. As a result, the competitiveness of graduates of Belarusian universities will be increased, interaction between research, educational and business communities will be strengthened.

The implementation of the project will contribute to the creation of favorable conditions for study and stimulation of the creative work of young people, which is a necessary requirement for the development of the innovative potential of the Belarusian society and the systemic modernization of the economy of the Republic of Belarus.

4. Project work plan

- creation of regional start-up centers in partner countries
- development of educational and methodological support for start-up centers;
- creation of electronic resources for the effective functioning of start-up centers and student education;
- conducting trainings for teachers of courses on the development and promotion of innovations;
- creation of an Internet platform that unites the work of start-up centers in universities of partner countries;
- conducting information campaigns in the media, organizing presentations and seminars with the involvement of representatives of the business community;
- creation of an international analytical network of start-up centers of universities participating in the project;
- formation of a database of innovative ideas and projects available to representatives of the business community;
- quality assurance and project management.

5. Expected results

- increased innovation and investment activities in partner countries;
- created inter-university regional start-up centers;
- trained administrative staff and university professors in partner countries;
- deepened cooperation between universities and enterprises in partner countries.
