Training in Alternative Dispute Resolution as a Human Rights Approach

1. Objectives of the project:

ensuring the use of the combined efforts of EU universities and partner countries, public associations of partner countries to modernize the system of higher legal education in accordance with the Bologna process and European standards.

2. Objectives of the project:

- to modernize the existing courses for students at the law faculties of BSU, GrSU, LNU, KhNU, KhmUKP until September 2015;

- to develop new electives on alternative dispute resolution before November 2015 at the same faculties;

- to develop a Master's program in Economic Law and Alternative Dispute Resolution in accordance with the requirements of the Bologna Process and to introduce it in these universities from September 2015.


3. Brief description of the project:

The project promotes the development of legal education with the modernization of legal training to meet the needs of economic and social development, and also takes into account the geopolitical position of the state in the center of Europe. New curricula and programs are aimed at increasing the practical orientation in the training of legal personnel.

The project is being implemented by a consortium of 10 higher educational institutions and 1 public association from the EU countries, Belarus and Ukraine.
In accordance with the specific objectives of the project, it is planned to modernize courses related to the emergence and resolution of conflicts at universities in partner countries, develop master's courses in economic law and alternative dispute resolution and implement them in 5 universities in partner countries from September 2015.

The main target group that will benefit from the project are students and graduates (specialists) from partner countries' universities in the field of economic law; also specialists, including teachers of partner universities in the above-named field, who are going to undergo retraining in the relevant field, and citizens / institutions / enterprises that will use the graduates.

4. Brief plan of project activities:

- development of a training course for a master's program;

- development of a master's program and support for its implementation;
- Conducting progress seminars, summer schools;
- modernization of the first stage courses in the field of alternative dispute resolution;
- improving the skills of employees of universities in partner countries (retraining of teachers, librarians and other specialists from higher educational institutions of Belarus and Ukraine on the basis of EU universities) and technical support of the educational process;
- trial training of undergraduates according to the new master's program;
- quality control and monitoring;
- holding an international conference on the results of the project;
- dissemination of project results (website creation, information campaigns in the media, etc.)


5. Expected results:

- curricula developed (master's level), approved by the university (including lecture courses, classes, didactic materials);

- modernization of curricula of the first level of education;
- advanced training of teachers and administrative staff of universities in the field of teaching economic law and alternative dispute resolution, information technology, English;
- training materials prepared and distributed;
- created a website on the Internet with an electronic library;
- purchased new equipment, books, periodicals for universities of partner countries.
