Being a top university in Belarusian higher education system BSU is acting as a national center of international cooperation in education and science with a special focus on innovations, quality enhancement and internationalization of university activity. 25-30 international projects within such programmes as Tempus, Erasmus Mundus, Jean Monnet, EU Cross-Border Cooperation, DAAD, FPB-Belarus, CIMO and many others are implemented at the University annually. Academic exchanges, joint researches and joint educational programs are implemented in the framework of more than 250 international agreements with institutions from Europe, Asia and America.

Participation of BSU in international educational projects enables the University to use scientific and educational, technical, and methodological resources and human resources of foreign institutions and organizations, advanced foreign experience, ideas and technologies. As a result, it enables students to obtain professionally significant, unique competencies, and scientists – scientific results of the world level.

Annually BSU takes part in more than 30 international educational projects, which are financed by international organizations and funds (European Union programs (Erasmus+, Jean Monnet, etc.), UNESCO, UNFPA, Visegrad Fund, Council of Europe, etc.) and national funds of European States (DAAD (Germany), cooperation program (Norway), EURASIA Foundation (USA), etc.).  During the implementation of the planned activities within the framework of the projects, our University receives an additional effect: the results of the projects are converted into the creation of unique export-oriented educational products (master's programs, retraining and advanced training programs, distance learning programs, open educational resources, etc.), which ultimately significantly increases the export potential of BSU.

One of the largest international programs in which BSU takes part is the European Union program "Erasmus+ Capacity Building in the field of Higher Education". In total, BSU takes part in 11 similar projects for the period up to 2022, in which the total amount of funding for BSU is almost 1 million euros. More than 40% of this amount is directed to the development of the University infrastructure; in particular, it is planned:

  • to create a production laboratory of 3D technologies (FABLAB);
  • to open and equip a Centre for innovation and entrepreneurship;
  • to purchase high-tech equipment for laboratory workshops in the field of energy efficiency and Photonics at the faculty of Physics;
