Foreign applicants from countries whose citizens need a visa to stay in the Republic of Belarus must first obtain an invitation to study at Belarusian State University. The list of visa-free countries is available on the website of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Belarus or at the consular office of the Republic of Belarus in your country.
The procedure for obtaining an invitation to study includes:
- Submission of the application for studies and related documents
- Review and examination of documents by the admissions committee of the BSU
- Registration and approval by the BSU employees of an invitation to study at the migration service
- In case of a positive approval of the invitation in the Migration Service - obtaining a study visa by the applicant in the consular office of the Republic of Belarus at the place of the applicant's residence
LIST OF REQUIRED DOCUMENTS
To receive an invitation to study at Belarusian State University and to be preselected, foreign applicants who are nationals of countries with a visa requirement to enter the Republic of Belarus submit to the International Marketing and Ratings Department.
- Completed questionnaire
- Copies of educational documents with attached grades or scores (secondary school diploma, higher education diploma, its supplement, master's degree, etc.) as well as copies of notarized translations of these documents into Russian (if the documents are not in Russian); copies of other certificates and certificates of completion of training courses, preparatory department, Russian language courses, foreign language study, etc.
- Copy of the medical certificate on the state of health issued by an official health authority of the country of origin of the candidate for studies (sample medical certificate) with a notarized translation into Russian of the medical report (if not in Russian). The medical report must not be older than 6 months!
- Сopy of the negative of HIV–test certificate with a notarized translation of the certificate into Russian (if the document is not in Russian). Medical certificate must not be older than 6 months!
- Сopy of passport valid for the period of study with a translation into Russian (if the passport is not in Russian)
- For minors - copy of the birth certificate with a copy of a notarized translation of the certificate into Russian (if the document is not in Russian)
LANGUAGE OF DOCUMENTS
All documents executed in a foreign language shall be accompanied by a translation into Russian. The translation of all documents, except for the passport, must be notarized. Foreign applicants have to have their passports translated by a notary upon arrival in the Republic of Belarus.
SUBMISSION OF DOCUMENTS FOR ISSUING AN INVITATION
Foreign nationals from visa countries may send copies of documents for an invitation to study at BSU in three possible ways:

- submit the package of documents to the Department of International Relations of the Belarusian State University through a representative

PRE-SELECTION
Specialists of the Department of International Relations of the BSU carry out expert examinations of submitted educational documents and conduct pre-selection of foreign applicants for studies. The following are taken into account:
1) ability of the foreign applicant to independently (without assistance) understand the rules of admission, fill in the application form, execute the necessary documents at the BSU, etc.
2) level of previous education (corresponding to the chosen study programme)
3) academic record
4) knowledge of the Russian or English (only for educational programme taught in English)
RESULT OF SELECTION AND APPROVAL OF INVITATIONS
In case of a positive decision and approval of educational documents, the specialists of the Department of International Relations of the BSU issue and send an official invitation to study for approval to the Migration Service. In case of approvals, the Migration Service sends the lists for issuing visas to the Belarusian Diplomatic Missions at the place of residence of the foreign applicant, which is the basis for obtaining study visas for foreign citizens from countries with a visa regime to enter the Republic of Belarus.
Obtaining a study visa is carried out at the consular offices of the Republic of Belarus. The consular fee for the study visa shall be paid by the applicant at the Belarusian Diplomatic Missions at the place where the visa is obtained.
