UNESCO "The role of lakes in Belarus in the flow of greenhouse gases in the regional climatic context"

The objectives of the project are to create a sustainable platform in the direction of "Environmental education of students as the basis for sustainable development of regions" to increase the interest and participation of students in solving local environmental problems; the formation of an ecological educational environment in educational institutions; enhancing the role of environmental education and enlightenment of students for the sustainable development of regions; involvement of students in design and research activities in the field of environmental education.

The main results of the project:

- field work was carried out in the northern regions of the Republic of Belarus, including in the Ushachsky district of the Vitebsk region;

- practical recommendations for sustainable water resources management have been developed, based on the experimental results of this project to determine methane emissions, its accumulation in bottom sediments of lakes in the Belarusian Poozerie;

- an information and educational seminar "Environmental education of students as the basis for sustainable development of the region" (22-23 January 2018) was held (more than 60 participants);

- Round table "Greenhouse effect: benefit or harm?" (24 Jan 2018), (more than 50 participants);

- an information booklet “The role of lakes in Belarus in the flow of greenhouse gases in the regional context” was created;

- a collection of articles "Natural sources of greenhouse gases and their impact on regional climate change" was published.
